Advanced High-performance computing systems to find a cure for COVID-19 — The Corona supercomputer and Mammoth Project

As we face this historic pandemic of COVID-19, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) approached Supermicro to quickly co-design the expansion of their supercomputing cluster Corona and the new “big memory” cluster called Mammoth to accelerate molecular dynamics simulations, large-scale data visualization, genomics analytics, and therapeutics discovery, leveraging the latest technologies.
Deploying liquid-cooled supercomputing cluster at scale in a challenging environment — The Ruby Project

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) approached Supermicro to co-design a highly scalable supercomputing cluster with challenging thermal requirements. The liquid-cooled cluster, called “Ruby”, runs demanding HPC workloads, including molecular docking calculations for finding therapeutic compounds capable of binding to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
