Supermicro will be featuring the latest generation of the WIO server family containing the latest AMD EPYC™ 8005 series CPUs (codename: Sorano) at MWC 2026. Optimized to minimize TCO and energy efficiency for data center computing at the edge. Supermicro’s AS -1115S-FWTRT WIO system is a single-socket server powered by AMD’s newest EPYC 8005 series CPUs with up to 84 “Zen 5c” cores, in a short-depth form factor. The system is designed with edge and telco application in mind, with a compact system design that is NEBS-compliant and front I/O for easy serviceability.
Paired with AMD’s new EPYC 8005 CPUs that deliver high performance with low power, the latest WIO system is intended for workloads that demand dense deployments where energy budgets are fixed, but performance demands continue to grow. Additionally for telco operators, with AMD introducing targeted LDPC (Low-Density Parity Check) decoding optimizations in the latest 8005 CPUs, these enhancements help reduce latency and accelerate forward-error-correction processing for 5G workloads which are essential to overall vRAN throughput.
In retail, Supermicro’s WIO system with its quiet and compact form factor, is also an ideal solution for inventory management, point-of-sales systems, and/or inside of IT rooms where space is often a constraint.
